Interested in supporting a couple of charity events to be held in memory of my late father?
Having passed away suddenly on July 4th last year, and with no indication, ‘Dave’ was found to have suffered with heart disease of which no one was aware of. My father left behind a legacy connected not only to his personal life, but also within the circle of friends and clubs up and down the length and breadth of the country with his dedication to Shepshed Dynamo FC and involvement within the world of non-league football in general.
This was reflected with an attendance in excess of 500 at his funeral and donations taken towards The British Heart Foundation and The East Midlands Ambulance Service well into four figures. As a direct consequence, it is the families wish that an annual ‘charity’ football match will be held in his memory with proceeds donated to the aforementioned together with a separate ‘Evening of Live Music’ event to be held later during the calendar year.
The date for the football match is Sunday 27th May 2012, to be played at The Dovecote, Shepshed, Leicestershire, 3.00pm kick off, with the ‘live music’ event taking place on Sunday 26th August. An All Star XI which will consist of former semi-pro and ex-professionals willing to ‘donate’ their time in aid of the BHF will play against a Shepshed Dynamo XI for the newly created “The DW Trophy in aid of the BHF” with proceeds also donated to the East Midlands Ambulance Service.
I look forward to your response and would appreciate any help in this worthwhile cause with regards to bringing together our “football family” for this event. We are currently working on the DW Trophy website, which is now live to view here . In the mean time feel free to contact us via the email link here as we are also looking for donations for rafle and auction.
